Jackson helps keep Upland’s hopes alive

ARROWHEAD LEAGUE Upland Christian 59, La Sierra Academy 22 Upland Christian, led by a pair of freshman guards this season, won the first league title in school history with a victory against La Sierra Academy. Tamesha Jackson got fouled in her pump fake attempt of a 3-point shot with 15 seconds left and sunk all of her free throws, giving Upland a 49-46 victory over Alta Loma Thursday night. Jackson ended up with 13 points and five assists for Upland (14-13, 4-6), which finished fourth in league and could get a playoff berth with an at-large bid. Tara Abbott had 14 points for Upland Christian (16-3, 9-1). CITRUS BELT LEAGUE Eisenhower 54, Carter 40 Jennifer Hardwick scored 14 points with six rebounds and five assists as the Eagles (11-12, 7-6) defeated the Lions to advance to the playoffs. Michelle Burley scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds in the win for the Eagles, who are making their first postseason appearance since 2003. Redlands 46, Yucaipa 38 Emily Vore scored 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as the Terriers (18-8, 9-4) defeated the Thunderbirds to earn second place and clinch a playoff spot. Lauren Jacobs scored 11 points in the win for the Terriers. Megan Allen scored eight points in the loss for Yucaipa. SIERRA LEAGUE Ayala 81, Chino Hills 30 Ayala won its 11th consecutive Sierra League title and finished unbeaten in league for the eighth time in that span with a victory against Chino Hills (6-4 league). Jasmine Holliday had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (23-3, 10-0), who haven’t lost a league home game during their 11-year run. SUNKIST LEAGUE Summit 66, Riverside Norte Vista 35 Summit’s freshmen and sophomore girls made teh most of their opportunity this season, as the SkyHawks finished their inaugural season unbeaten in the Sunkist League after a victory against Riverside Norte Vista. Adrianne Thomas scored 21, and Meghin Williams had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead Summit (23-3, 10-0). VICTORY LEAGUE Mesa Grande Academy 72, Desert Chapel 43 Carla Bartlett scored 22 points as the Cardinals (20-5, 12-0) defeated the Eagles to earn their fourth consecutive league title. Mesa Grande is 28-0 in league since losing its last game in the 2004-05 season. Alyse Schwerdt added 12 points for the Cardinals. Hemet Baptist 45, Redlands Adventist 42 Redlands Adventist (10-14, 5-7) fell to Hemet Baptist, but the team still clinched fourth place and the accompanying playoff berth in the loss thanks to Mesa Grande Academy’s win.
