Aminata Ganta Branch ‘Burglarized’

first_imgThe Ganta Branch of the Aminata Filling Station in Nimba County has been burglarized by some unknown persons, the Daily Observer has learnt.Up to press time, police in the county’s commericial hub had not made any arrest. However, two persons who were on guard when the burglary reportedly took place are said to be undergoing interrogation.Police sources quoted the two guards as saying that before the crime was committed on Sunday night, a man who identified himself as a “pastor” stopped at the station while the station was already closed for the day.Eyewitnesses said the man told the Eli Guard Service security guards that he was waiting for his friends, who he said were on their way from Sanniquellie, the county’s political capital. They told the police that while the ‘pastor’ was waiting for his ‘friends’, he took a pack of biscuit from his pocket and shared some pieces with the guards, who subsequently fell asleep.According to our source, shortly after consuming the biscuit, the guards became dizzy and subsequeltly slept, leaving the facility vulnerable to intruders.“When the guards regained consciousness the next morning, they noticed the station had been burglarized with pieces of (gas) coupons worth about US$3,142. 20 cents and L$41,280 as well as one laptop and a modem missing,” our source said.Meanwhile, LNP officers assigned in Ganta are still investigating the incident, while holding the two guards for questioning in the meantime. It can be recalled that a few years ago, some unknown persons penetrated the Ganta Branch of the Liberian Bank for Development and Investment when they allegedly offered drinks to the North Star security officers on duty, who fell asleep as a result. The outcome of the case is yet to be made public. Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
