In a recent interview with American media, Kerr said that Thompson might ‘realistically’ miss the entire season taking the recovery time needed for a torn ACL into consideration. He said that it is unlikely that Thompson might play this year, and the team will have to understand and accept that. Kerr clarified his comments later, saying that there might be some chance that the star guard might play this year. He said that his comments were ‘matter of fact’, and he was generally talking about the recovery time of an ACL tear, which is 9-12 months. After nine months, the season end will be near. He also mentioned that he is not making any announcement, and Thompson is doing great in rehab and can still return.    Also read | NBA News: New Orleans Pelicans to open season without Zion WilliamsonThompson underwent surgery to repair his ACL tear on July 2. Myers also clarified that the All-Star break is meant for Thompson’s status update and not a probable period for his return. Kerr also admitted that he should not have commented on the situation, and asked the people to calculate on their own. As April 1 will be the nine-month mark after the surgery, one can only hope for the best. In the meantime, Golden State Warriors will focus on training the youngsters who will play instead of Klay Thompson, developing their skills. These players can then be in the rotation and contribute more during the playoffs. Thompson also talked about the situation in an interview last month. Though he wants to play, he believes patience is a virtue and it will be a mistake to be hasty about the process. Also read | 10 storylines to follow in the 2019-20 NBA seasonAlso read | NBA: Referees question travelling call on Rockets’ star James Harden 10 months ago NBA 2019-20: Golden State Warriors’ profile and season preview According to Golden State Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr, it is unlikely that Klay Thompson will play the NBA 2019-20 regular season.
